 Justice Paul Bellefontaine played an instrumental role in establishing the Durham Region Committee on which he served as co-chair for 6 years.  While in this role he initiated several successful justice education programs including the Adopt-a-School program, which matches lawyers with teachers, and the Courthouse visit program.  The establishment of the Kelly Cup Mock Trial Tournament is, however, his greatest contribution to justice education in the region.  Now in its 9th year, the event welcomes high school students from the region’s 38 public and Catholic secondary schools. Now retired from the bench, Justice Bellefontaine has established of a sound structure for justice education that will continue into the future.
