Full Day PD Day for London Area Law Teachers

About 20 law teachers from the London area participated in a full day of OJEN professional development earlier this month. Hosted by Western University Faculty of Law, the day included sessions on:

  • An introduction to CLEO’s new website, Steps to Justice;
  • Current issues in International Law;
  • How new Marijuana Laws impact youth.

Teachers were also guided through the process of mounting a mock trial, as either a classroom exercise or for competition.  For teachers who were new to teaching law or who had not attempted a mock trial with their classes before, this was a popular session.  As one teacher commented, “I love that time was taken to actually do a mock trial so teachers who have not done one have a chance to actually do it.  This is what PD should be.”

With excellent speakers from the faculty of Western Law and from Lerners LLP, the sessions were informative, current and practical. Teachers reported that the ideas and resources they received in the sessions, they would make use of in their classrooms.

Special thanks to Western Law for hosting the event and to Lerners LLP for sponsoring the refreshments.

OJEN offers free PD sessions to teachers, instructional leaders, learning coaches and administrators on a wide variety of subjects.
