OJEN is a small not-for-profit, charitable organization with a very limited budget. We provide our programs and services for free or at-cost. Law firms and other organizations can make a real difference by sponsoring an OJEN event, student internship, or teacher secondment. Sponsor Profile: Gluckstein Personal Injury Lawyers

In an innovative approach to supporting justice education, Gluckstein Personal Injury Lawyers sponsored the salary of a high school law teacher seconded to OJEN for five months in 2015.

Vivian Garofalo, a teacher with York Region District School Board, brought a wealth of classroom knowledge to the Educator Support Department at OJEN. An experienced secondary school law teacher, Vivian used OJEN’s classroom resources in the classroom herself for many years and participated in our professional development workshops.

Her secondment with OJEN allowed her to explore her passion for immigration and refugee law by taking the lead in developing a multi-module resource that explores the social, economic, and cultural factors that have shaped the development of Canada’s immigration and refugee policies and law.

Vivian also designed and developed content for a series of webinars podcasts to be used for teacher training. Each webinar podcasts focuses on a different issue of substantive law, including civil and criminal law, administrative law, and international law.
