Summer Law Institute Early Bird Rate Ends July 15th!

Toronto Summer Law Institute for teachers happens Tuesday, August 27th and Wednesday, August 28th at Osgoode Hall, Toronto.

Register by July 15th and take advantage of the special Early Bird rate of $65.00 including all materials and meals.  The regular rate after July 15th is $95.00.

The Toronto Summer Law Institute, OJEN’s flagship PD event for teachers, provides a thought-provoking look into some of the most interesting and controversial legal issues of the day from the legal professionals at their centre.

Some of this year’s highlights include:

  • Solitary Confinement – Senator Kim Pate joins us by Skype for an informative session about the impact of solitary confinement on prison inmates and a behind the scenes look at the ongoing efforts to reform legislation effecting its use.
  • Hate Speech – Khrystina McMillan from the law firm Lax O’Sullivan Lisus Gottlieb, discusses the cyber libel case brought by Paramount Fine Foods owner, Mohamad Fakih, which resulted in record damages being awarded to the plaintiff.
  • Environmental Law –  One of teacher’s most requested topics!   Executive Director and Counsel, Theresa McClenaghan and Counsel, Jacqueline Wilson from the Canadian Environmental Law Association, discuss their work representing individuals and communities with environmental concerns.

Watch for more information to come about the Bruce McArthur Case, Drug Treatment Court, Top 5 Significant Cases of 2018, …and more!
