Antoine Fougère-Ramsamooj
What I do here:
As part of both the Outreach and Educator Support teams, my job is to make sure that the over 600,000 French speakers in Ontario are represented in OJEN’s work. To do this, I facilitate the duplication of OJEN’s programming in English into French while also developing programs specifically tailored to the Franco-Ontarian community. My ultimate goal is to have the same level of quality between both languages for all of OJEN’s programs, resources, and endeavours.
Why I work at OJEN:
OJEN represents a convergence of a lot of my passions, such as teaching, civic engagement, and the French language. While much progress has been made for the Franco-Ontarian community over the past decades, there remains to be a gap between the resources that French speakers have regarding their legal representation. As such, working in public legal education for this community has become a worthwhile endeavour for my professional and personal life.
3 things I did before OJEN:
- I hold a Master of Arts in History from McMaster University and a Master in Global Affairs from the Munk School of Global Affairs and Public Policy at the University of Toronto.
- I was a high school teacher of French, History, English, Music, Drama, and Politics.
- I did theatre throughout high school and university.
