2024 Fatima Kaalim

Fatima Kaalim came to OJEN’s Justice Education Fellowship program as a Paralegal student at George Brown College. She delivered Steps to Justice workshops focusing on Employment and Refugee Law to students at Marc Garneau Collegiate Institute. She took it upon herself to create additional resources, flyers, and materials for youth, and shared them with current and future Fellows for reference when facilitating similar workshops.

In addition to her excellent work as an OJEN Fellow, Fatima has a wealth of community experience including community garden and food bank assistant at the Centre for Immigrant and Community Services; an Intake and Referral Worker at The Neighbourhood Organization (TNO), a youth community organizer from Anakbayan Toronto, and more.

Fatima’s passion and enthusiasm for the Fellowship program, OJEN, and the youth in her classrooms and community make her a deserving recipient of the Tate Herbert Post-Secondary Award.
