Law Institutes for Teachers

OJEN Law Institutes are continuing professional development programs that offer teachers a forum for learning, dialogue and exchange with leaders from the legal system. By signing up, teachers join a conversation with judges, lawyers, academics, law enforcement, community activists, and other experts about timely legal issues that enhance classroom teaching and learning. Participants might:

  • Hear amazing presentations
  • Participate in critical dialogues with peers and experts
  • Watch or play a role in demonstrations of legal processes

Each year, Law Institutes are held in different locations around the province, providing teachers with the opportunity to connect with justice sector professionals working in their local region. The Summer Law Institute, our flagship annual event, takes place every August in Toronto.  We have hosted similar events in Windsor, Ottawa, Kingston, Sudbury, and Thunder Bay.

New Law Institutes will be announced in the News and Events section of our website. You can also subscribe to OJEN’s Newsflash for Teachers for email updates.
