Futures in Justice – Brampton
For many young people, a career in law may feel out of their reach. Futures in Justice and other OJEN career modelling programs help young people “see themselves in law” by introducing them to legal professionals with whom they share similar backgrounds or experiences. The goal of these programs is to show that there is a place for everyone in the legal profession regardless of background. The Futures in Justice program showcases a variety of legal professionals, emphasizing the different careers in justice and the non-linear pathways to reach them.
The Peel Region Futures in Justice event will focus on high school students and expose them to a variety of professionals and professions within the justice system by involving them in ‘speed networking/mentoring’, a tour of the courthouse/cells, refreshments, lunch, and a discussion on ‘thriving and surviving in law school/post-secondary education.
