La juge Patricia Hennessy
Justice Patricia Hennessy is champion of justice education, who has made significant contributions to northeast region through her OJEN pro bono involvement in her community. She has chaired the OJEN Committee in the Northeast Region since its inception in 2002. In this role she worked hard to raise the profile of justice education with her fellow judges, lawyers and court staff, to ensure that students anywhere in the Northeast have access to a positive and meaningful first interaction with the justice system. She is responsible for developing many innovative justice education programs in both Sudbury and Manitoulin Island, including a thriving annual mock trial tournament in Sudbury and responsive justice education programs on Manitoulin Island. She has also taken steps to address the under-participation of French schools. Sudbury is one of two locations in all of Ontario to have held a fully bilingual mock trial tournament for high schools students.
