His Worship Mark Conacher has championed justice education throughout his career. He was recognized in particular for his efforts in making the justice system a more accessible and less intimidating to young people through the Court Experience program, which he conceived, organized and maintained for 11 years.
The Court Experience Program pairs students with Judges, Justices of the Peace, Crown Attorneys and Duty Council, allowing them to spend a day job shadowing and observing the court proceedings from behind the scenes.
Initially launched at Old City Hall Court House in 2006 it now takes place in six Ontario Court of Justice courthouses throughout the GTA. Since the program started he has organized well over 400 such activities and participated in most of them himself.
His Worship Conacher has contributed significantly to furthering justice education for hundreds of students in the GTA , making courthouses more welcoming and justice professionals more approachable.
