Call for Mock Trial Participants!

Calling all teachers! The OBA/OJEN Competitive Mock Trials (OOCMT) season is well underway! Registration is now open for all of our tournaments across the province, so visit the OJEN website to find your local region and register a team from your school:

Also on the site you will find this year’s case scenario, which all of our tournaments use, as well as supporting materials such as the tournament rules, and the official tournament guide. There is also a resource for teachers which covers, among other items, how to submit your team and prepare for a mock trial.

The OBA/OJEN Competitive Mock Trials (OOCMT) is a partnership between the Ontario Bar Association and OJEN. Last spring, over 1600 students from 168 schools across Ontario registered a team for one of 17 local tournaments.

Students participating in the OOCMT have the opportunity to prepare and present legal arguments in real courthouses, with the coaching of lawyer volunteers – close to 500 legal professionals volunteer their time every year! Once you register, your team will be paired up with a lawyer coach who matches your team’s preferences as best as possible.

Tournaments typically happen between late March and early May and many slots have already been filled, so make sure you register your team as soon as possible!
