Are you a lawyer, paralegal, or law clerk who would like to run one of OJEN’s most popular programs in a high school classroom?
We are inviting volunteers to join us for a live training session in which you will learn how to run any of OJEN’s Steps to Justice workshops with any online classroom in Ontario.
OJEN’s Steps to Justice workshops introduce audiences to common legal problems and familiarize them with a specific area of law. Using hypothetical scenarios, workshop participants explore a legal topic by navigating the practical step-by-step information on CLEO’s Steps to Justice website. They learn how to use the website to find legal information, including the forms, self-help guides and referral information for legal and social services which may be helpful in working through a future legal problem.
In the training, we will cover workshop content, facilitation skills, and common challenges. After completing training, volunteers are eligible to join a roster of OJEN volunteers who respond to requests from teachers for classroom workshops. It’s the easiest way to get started with doing public legal education in schools!
Sessions will be held on Thursday June 10 at 12:00pm, Sunday June 13 at 10:00am, and Tuesday June 15 at 7:00pm. You only need to attend one of the sessions.
