Undergraduate Mock Trials Canada – Waterloo Region

Founded in 2012, UGMT (Undergraduate Mock Trials Canada) Criminal Division is a unique mock trial competition at the undergraduate level, taking place each Fall and Winter term of the year, and hosted by students at the University of Waterloo. The competition has recently branched out to include students from various universities in Ontario including the Universities of Waterloo, Wilfrid Laurier, Brock, Western, and Guelph. UGMT simulates the formal legal processes of a criminal trial and gives competitors an opportunity to obtain tangible experience of working on a case both from the crown and defence perspective. With the help of crown attorneys, criminal defence lawyers, and other legal professionals such as mentors and judges, UGMT provides a distinctly sophisticated experience.
