Congratulations to those of you who are wrapping up the first, challenging quadmester of the 2020-21 school calendar! Many of you have had to work in new ways and new subject areas. OJEN is committed to supporting you with your law-related classes however you may find yourself teaching them!
One way we are adapting to the new teaching realities of COVID-19 times is to modify programs so they are accessible and useful no matter where they fall in your academic schedule. We will offer elements of programs like the Charter Challenge and the OBA-OJEN provincial mock trials for the virtual and physical classrooms all year long.
These two programs will take students deep into the world of criminal justice. However, for those interested in a closer look, why not try out one of OJEN’s family law mock hearings? Contact us, and we can arrange for a family lawyer to have a virtual visit with your class. Your students can hear about what it’s like to practice in this important area of law and gain a deeper understanding of the issues involved in child protection and child support! These are great topics for a day, a week or a unit. Use them in conjunction with a Steps to Justice workshop on family law or family violence or as a springboard for inquiry with Community Legal Education Ontario’s Steps to Justice website!
Let us know how else we can help you. Good luck with the beginning of quad 2!
